DUKE

I'm not much for doing caricatures. At best I try to capture a personality in a way that represents the person in a much simpler form without over-exaggeration. Caricaturist, good ones anyway, are far and few it seems. Kruger is pretty excellent, and I'd even put Mort Drucker into the category as well, beyond that who else is there really to consider?

Anyway...here's a shot of The Duke for my Dad's 60th birthday card. Now I'm tasked with coming up with a witty line or two.

ROM: Spaceknight

When I started collecting comics ROM was one of the titles I bought. Didn't care much for his design or the fact that he was based off of a very stiff unarticulated toy.
But the writing was great!
Unfortunately that writer years ago, quite possibly in the prime of his career, was a victim of a hit and run. He suffered permanent brain injury and resides in a rest home that serves those who are afflicted as such.
A local Portland, Oregon comic shop is holding a show in his honor and asked me to contribute art for prints to sell.
Here's more details:

Dynamo Effect

Go figure...who would have thought I'd have done a pinup of a character from Dynamo 5? I was in need of seeing something in print because I bought a new monitor and started to worry that the last two books of The Overman might turn out darker than the rest of the run.
So...Jay Faerber, the writer said he had a slot open that would print in two weeks. Perfect!
5 hours later...vulgarity aside, a decent pic emerges, I guess. :)

INTERVIEWED

Newsarama was kind enough to interview us to get the word out. It's what happens when you roll out marketing at different stages of the game. We're currently in this months Diamond Previews catalogues where most retailers will order our comic. So it stands to reason you want to put your product in the faces of the buying audience who will then go to their retailer to order our book.

At this point, I'm kind of burned out on the whole Wheel of Pain thing. I've been beating the same marketing drum for quite some time...and still we have two months until the book comes out.

I hope some day it'll feel good to say
=THE OVERMAN= again, because right now...it doesn't.

wah.
