As a youngster I had always wanted to be abducted by aliens. I felt like that was really the only way I was going to get to see the world and beyond. As an adult I think I translated that to wanting a richer experience, and to see things that challenged my perceptions. I hope in my lifetime we'll be able to experience what the pulp writers and illustrators of the atomic age had only a chance to dream about. I think the dream is still alive, but we're all just waiting for technology to catch up. It's made it as far as films, but in practical applications we're probably a few light years away.
